History of dubai
Dubai is a city state in the UAE which itself is comprised of 7 states and was created in 1971, when it ceased being a British Protectorate and became a part of the United Arab Emirates. It was traditionally a pearl diving and fishing economy but with the creation of cultured pearls in the 1920s and the Great Depression in the 1930s ,its pearl exports collapsed. It was not until oil was discovered and exported in 1969 that its economy improved. This economic history impelled the present ruler's father Shaikh Rashid Maktoum to look for other ways of developing Dubai. Its his vision that has been so successfully executed by the current Ruler, Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum as a hub of airlines, trade , hospitality and financial activities. Because the oil has also almost run out, the new objective is to make it the Capital of the Islamic Economy.
